Yury Avi is a Russian photographic artist, director and musician currently based in Melbourne, Australia. His interest in photography started at the age of 17, when a simple camera first appeared in his life as a birthday present from his parents . At this point, a new incredible world of photo art opened to him, full of fun, experiments and self expression. His first project called “surREALITY” which happened in 2007 was series of abstract photographs, balancing between real and unreal. Later, Yury began extensive travelling and his style transformed from experimental to reportage and fine art. In 2009 he was announced the finalist of the First National Award “Best Photographer 2009” with his other project “Man and City”. Yury’s work was exhibited at numerous personal and group exhibitions, including international festivals and fairs. Currently, Yury is based in Melbourne and actively continues his artwork, mainly concentrated on photography and music.
